RAF Holmpton, withernsea, hull saturday 11TH october 2008 priced at only £ 25.00 per person from 9.00pm until 3.00am
This military site was originally known at RAF Patrington serving the forces since WW2. It was during the 1940's that plans came to light for a new radar system to be installed at various sites, RAF Patrington being one of them.
As the site was being commissioned and the eventual radar system installed the location grew in size as around 350 personnel worked there. Various outbuildings were installed including housing, a cinema, a chapel, canteen and a medical centre to name a few. It was a real hive of daily life and activity.
As technology improved a new technical program was started incorporating other radar systems, becoming fully operational in 1954 until 1974 when the Air Defence Data Centre at West Drayton became operational and RAF Holmpton became obsolete. From 1974 to 1984 it was a training centre for RAF Radar Technicians, then from the mid-80's it was refurbished as a new Emergency War Headquarters. After the Cold War it reverted back to a training centre used by the RAF, RAF Police, ROC and the TA. Today the site is managed by HIPPO, The Holmpton Initiative Project Planning Office.
There have been many reports of paranormal happenings at this location and service men have been seen many times in different areas. There is one particular gentleman that is seen quite regularly in the operation room, witnessed by multiple people at the same time.
There is also said to be an airman who wanders the main building, pushing people out of his way. Feelings of being watched, light anomalies and uncomfortable feelings have also been felt.
