This fabulous building opened in September 1900 as a Police and Fire station and was one of the UK's first purpose built stations of its kind.

In 1929 the Fire Service moved to Rockingham Street.

In 1965 the Police moved to new premises just up the road. (West Bar) Prisoners now enjoyed the luxury of modern day cells!

In 1980 the Museum was acquired by "The South Yorkshire Historical Society" in a VERY DERELICT CONDITION

In 1982 The main yard was opened for viewing on one Sunday of every month and the admission cost was only 50p

The Museum is now one of the Worlds Largest Fire & Police Museum's and it's Tower is the only still standing Fire Service Tower in the UK.

The building has also had its fair share of paranormal activity , with many groups who have investigated this remarkable building reporting all kind of phenomena. Footsteps, voices and the sense of being touched are a few to mention.
